A massive 72-foot statue of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Statue Delhi, the co-founder of the BJP’s precursor Bharatiya Jana Sangh, will be unveiled in the nation’s capital on Monday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The brass monument will be built at a park bearing the leader’s name across from the Delhi BJP headquarters on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg. Deen Dayal Upadhyay, who penned the political theory of the Jan Sangh, is celebrating his birth anniversary on Monday.

The statue is situated in the national capital’s Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Park, which is off Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Marg, across from the BJP headquarters. ‘Rashtra Dharma’ was a monthly journal founded by Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Statue Delhi in the 1940s to propagate the ideas of the Hindutva Renaissance. The ‘Integral humanism’, the official political theory of Jan Sangh, is credited to him for incorporating some principles of cultural nationalism. He is also well-known for endorsing a number of Gandhian socialist tenets, including Swadeshi (self-sufficiency) and Sarvodaya (development for all).

PM Modi Pays Tribute to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay

Rajesh Bhandari created the copper-alloy figure with precise features, according to the report. Weighting 40 tons, the statue is 72 feet tall. Prime Minister Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the party’s headquarters and paid respect to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s monument before the unveiling. PM Modi told the audience that Pandit Deendayal’s doctrine of compassion for the marginalized guided the BJP to its current state.
