Significance of Karma Puja 2023
There were seven brothers who worked in their fields day in and day out. Since the brothers couldn’t stop to return home for lunch because of their hectic schedules, their wives would bring them food every day. One day, noon passed without any food being brought by the women. When the brothers returned home after going without food, they saw their wives singing and dancing around a limb of a Karam tree; in their trance, they had neglected to perform their daily duties.
Unhappy to say the least, the hangry brothers snatched the branch and tossed it into the river in a fit of rage. The flinging of the branches would end in failure. Due to this obnoxious attitude, Karam Devta was humiliated, and financial collapse followed.
History of Karma Puja
There are various legends that describe how the Karam festival came to be. One of them recalls the story of seven brothers who worked tirelessly in the field and didn’t even have time to have lunch at home; instead, their wives carried meals to the field each day. One day, though, the wives failed to bring any food. The brothers discovered their wives singing and dancing with a branch from the karam tree when they got home in the evening, hungry and upset.
